Certification language is model-specific
We report certification only when the evidence connects the exact model to the named certification body, standard, and applicable claim. A family name, similar model, replacement cartridge, or certified component does not automatically establish certification of another complete system.
Certified, tested, and components are different
Certified means the evidence identifies certification of the exact product or system. Tested to a standard reports testing language without silently upgrading it to certification. Uses certified components applies only to those components unless the evidence separately certifies the full system.
Standards do not prove every claim
NSF/ANSI 42 commonly addresses aesthetic effects such as chlorine taste and odour; NSF/ANSI 53 addresses specific health-effect reduction claims; NSF/ANSI 44 covers cation-exchange softeners; NSF/ANSI 55 covers ultraviolet systems; NSF/ANSI 58 covers reverse-osmosis systems; and NSF/ANSI 401 covers specified emerging compounds. Certification still has to be checked for the exact claim and model rather than inferred from the standard title alone.
